About Prairie Sky Petals

Hello everyone and welcome! My name is Jamie, and I am the owner of Prairie Sky Petals, a small flower farm and garden in Aurora, SD. Along with my husband, Matt, and our two daughters, I manage the day-to-day operations, including planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting. The girls love watching the flowers and crops grow, and it has been rewarding to show them how hard work can turn into something beautiful!

The name Prairie Sky Petals was inspired by my love for the central South Dakota prairie, where I was raised on the farm. The golden hour sun setting over the prairie sky is one of my favorite views, rivaled only by the beauty of a ripe wheat field ready for harvest. This year, strands of wheat were added to most arrangements, bringing a touch of the prairie to every bouquet. 🌾

Our 2024 florals featured a vibrant, colorful mix including dahlias, ageratum, cosmos, feverfew, eucalyptus, sunflowers, ranunculus, tulips, bupleurum, gomphrena, yarrow, dusty miller, celosia, zinnias, snapdragons, strawflower, and basil. The diverse selection adds a distinctive touch to every handcrafted bouquet. Many of these flowers aren't found in typical flower shop arrangements, making each bouquet not only unique but also timeless.

For the coming year, we have plans to attend some farmers’ markets, offer buckets of stems for DIY projects/parties/showers, set up bouquet bars, sell flower starts for your own growing fun, and offer subscription services —stay tuned! 💐😁 The main goal is to provide locally grown, specialty petals while also sharing information about our growing practices, timelines, and our successes and failures along the way. Thank you for following along on our journey!
